The Meritage Resort and Spa is at the southern end of the Napa Valley, within 25 miles of about 350 Napa Valley wineries. Sonoma Valley wineries are also within easy reach. The Eagle Vines and Chardonnay golf clubs are about three miles away.

A wrought-iron fence, trellises, and classical statuary surround the large outdoor pool and spa tub. The adjacent firepit is lighted at dusk to create a romantic glow.

The underground Spa Terra offers Tuscan-inspired treatments in a hushed setting of vaulted ceilings, water walls, and glittering mosaics. Locker rooms contain steam grottoes and spa tubs. Many treatments incorporate local ingredients, such as grape seeds, olive oil, honey, oranges, and berries.

Guestrooms at The Meritage Resort and Spa feature Tuscan-inspired decor, including hand-painted details and rich fabrics. Beds are outfitted with pillowtop mattresses, down duvets, and plenty of fluffy down/feather pillows. 32-inch HD plasma TVs come with DVD players.

Compact refrigerators are stocked with wine, bottled water, and soft drinks (all included in resort fee). Coffeemakers brew Starbucks coffee. Wireless and wired high-speed Internet access are available.

Spacious bathrooms include marble-topped double vanities, plush robes, makeup/shaving mirrors, bath products by Bare Escentuals San Francisco, and separate water closets with phones. Some bathrooms have shower/tub combinations with deep soaking tubs; others have showers only.

Some rooms come with furnished balconies or patios (not guaranteed).

Guestrooms and all other interior areas are nonsmoking. Smoking is permitted only on balconies or patios, or on the Vineyard Terrace outdoor meeting space.
